How to Celebrate Your Dog This 2024 National Dog Mom Day

Apr 9th 2023

Celebrate the bond you and your pup share this National Dog Mom Day! If you aren't familiar with this holiday, it's a special day that celebrates pet motherhood by showing love to all dog moms, foster moms and future dog moms. National Dog Mom Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of May each year and will fall on May the 13th this year. The holiday was created by the dog person dating app, Dig as a way to celebrate dog moms who love, care and appreciate their dogs as if they were their own children. As a dog mom, here are few ways you can show your special furry family member how special they are to you.

  • Bake a dog-friendly cake or cupcakes: You can find many recipes online for dog-friendly cakes made with ingredients such as peanut butter, bananas, and sweet potatoes. When making these cakes, make sure to avoid ingredients that may be harmful to dogs such as chocolate, grapes, and onions.
  • Treat yourself and your dog: Include your dog in the celebration of your pet motherhood by going on a trip to a dog friendly restaurant. Check your local area for pet friendly restaurants and celebrate with a nice meal! You can also finish the day by buying dog mom matching shirts from local pet stores near you.
  • Go on a walk: Walking is a great way to relieve stress, burn calories, and simply take time for yourself. What's great about this activity is that you can take your furry family member with you and make it a special outing like going on a hike, trip to the beach, or a visit to a dog park. This can be a fun way to bond with your dog and give them some extra exercise to improve their mental and physical health.
  • Buy them a new interactive toy or treat: Interactive dog toys like a flirt pole are a great way for pet parents to bond with their dog. They provide mental exercise during play time and improve dogs health while spoiling them and making the day extra special.
  • Create memories: Make sure to document this special day by taking lots of pictures and videos to look back on. You could even create a scrapbook or photo album to cherish and remember your day with your fur baby.

Remember to keep your dog's safety and health in mind when planning their birthday celebration, and make sure to avoid any activities or treats that may be harmful to them. With that said..Happy Dog Mom Day!
